What it does

Strainers

A Y-type strainer protects the pump, meter, control valve or heat exchanger downstream of it by trapping solid particles in a screen basket. The Y-shaped body allows the basket to be cleaned without removing the strainer from the line. The mesh size of the basket is selected according to the sensitivity of the equipment being protected; the degree of clogging is indicated by the pressure difference across the basket. It is common for installation debris to collect in the screen during the first weeks after commissioning, so the first cleaning interval is kept short.
