What it does
Limit Switch Box
A limit switch box is mounted on the actuator to sense whether the valve is open or closed and reports this as a signal to the automation system. The control room can therefore see whether the valve has actually carried out the command.
The box usually carries a mechanical position indicator, so an operator in the field can see the valve position by eye without needing electrical power.
It is used with both pneumatic and electric actuators and mounts to the actuator through a standard interface.
